Invest in Bolton

Church Wharf is one of five intervention areas in Bolton £1billion town centre regeneration masterplan whose future regeneration is key to enable Bolton Council to achieve its ambition to deliver a £1billion regeneration of the town centre. The Bolton 2030 Vision aims to create a vibrant town, with strong cohesive communities, successful businesses and healthy residents. This vision is supported by £100m direct investment from the Council to fund the key infrastructure needed to deliver important town centre sites including Church Wharf. Further information on Bolton Council’s vision for Church Wharf can be found here. Development at Church Wharf is supported through the Church Wharf Supplementary Planning Document (2018) which sets out the Council’s policy for the area.

Church Wharf could deliver a number of benefits to Bolton:

  • Regenerating an underused town centre site which will draw in residents, workers and visitors, creating a thriving daytime and night time economy
  • Providing a boost to the local economy and town centre retail
  • An investment of £150m
  • Creating up to 290 jobs when the site is completed and 130 jobs during construction
  • An additional £450,000 of business rates to the Council each year
